Welcome again to another book of the week! Thanks for joining me today, I really do appreciate all of your support!
This week, is a book I picked up quite a while ago, and I did not read any reviews beforehand, I just saw it and thought “hmm.. I like parties! And Drama! So I will probably like this!” I then gave the blurb a little read and loved the sound of it. This weeks book is:
4 / THE PARTY by Robyn Harding
I had never heard of this book before, but I am so thankful I came across it! It is basically a drama about a sweet sixteen Birthday party that goes horribly wrong. A rich family finds that their perfect life is slowly turning upside down, having their darkest secrets revealed and finding their friends turn into enemies.
Parents Jeff and Kim plan on throwing a small party for their daughter, Hannah, for her sixteenth Birthday. Hannah is a nice girl with good grades and reliable friends. Her parents organise four of Hannah’s friends over for pizza, cake, movies and a sleepover. What could possibly go wrong?
After a tragic accident occurs at the party, Jeff and Kim’s perfect life begins to come apart. Dark secrets are revealed, friends become enemies and information about Hannah is exposed.
As the book states: “One invitation. A lifetime of regrets”.
There seem to be a lot of mixed reviews about this book, though I really enjoyed it. Honestly, I would read it again! The characters tend to make the reader irritated, but this sounds like it is just personal preference. I didn’t particularly connect with any of the characters myself, but I’m sure there might be someone out there who would. This book will definitely keep you reading as so many different things happen in it, but the author has written this in a way that it is easy to read and understand what is happening.
This is a super good book if you love drama, there is SO MUCH DRAMA! It is categorised as a mystery, but I would call it more of a drama, and many people online would agree with this. Read more about it here
9/10 would actually read again
