It seems that every time you go travelling, there is always at least one thing that goes wrong. On this trip, it was four things that went wrong, but we’ll get to that further in the post.
So I went to Brisbane a little while ago with my cousin, I had some time off from my job as I had worked for 2 years without having any holidays, so I felt like I really deserved this. It didn’t start great as our flight got delayed by about 5 hours. I was kind of glad that it got delayed, as the plane that we originally got on was making horrible noises, so if we went up in the air we probably would have been killed haha. So it was over lunch time, because of this the airline gave us $8 lunch coupons to spend at the airport food court. $8! What the heck can you buy that is a full lunch with $8!? Anyway, we got to the airport at 8am and didn’t arrive in Brisbane, Australia until 6pm, so by the time we got there we were bloody starving – after throwing our suitcases in our room, it was time to find somewhere for dinner! Our room was awesome by the way, 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a balcony! We went to a lovely looking restaurant for dinner which was outside, and we ordered some pizza. My god, this was the WORST pizza I have EVER had. This was bad luck number 2. Pizza is not hard to get right, so if you’re a chef, someone who cooks as a living, and you can’t make pizza, you’re in the wrong profession. It was thin as, next to no topping and no flavour or enjoyment whatsoever.
After the terrible, horrible pizza incident, we had a pretty decent time, we drove around to different locations:
- Sunshine Coast
- Gold Coast (Surfers Paradise, Ripley’s Believe it or Not Museum and Broadbeach)
- Koala Sanctuary (this is where celebrities go to get pictures with a koala!)
- Movie World
- Byron Bay
It came to the second last day of our trip. I was sleeping peacefully at 1am in the morning until the FIRE ALARM WENT OFF! I freaked out so much, didn’t know what was going on or where I was. I jumped up and grabbed a jumper and my phone. My cousin and I got the hell out of there. Anxiety was very high while walking down 6 flights of stairs, thinking there might be a fire somewhere in the building. The fire brigade arrived pretty fast, and thankfully it was only a false alarm. Safe to say it took me a while to get back to sleep after that. Bad luck number 3. What made it worse is that I really needed a good sleep this night as we had a long day planned for the day after.
On the last day of our trip we did our own thing during the day (of course I did some shopping!) and later in the afternoon we visited the museum (which in all honesty I’m not very interested in, but I thought we might as well check it out since it’s free) then we went bowling then eventually went back to the airport and got on a plane back home, which was right on time!
Yes the trip ended on a good note, but that wasn’t the end of the bad luck incidents. The day after I got back from holiday, the day before I was meant to start back at work, I got a TEXT from my boss, yes, a TEXT saying “check your email”. All I was thinking was “hmm ok.. must be something good!”. Nope. My job was going to be terminated in 2 weeks time because he can no longer “afford to pay me” because of unforeseen costs with the business. I knew first hand that the business had a lot of money, and I was his only employee. It was obviously a cover up for something else. There was no way I was staying there for another 2 weeks, unwanted. So I just said I wanted to leave now, and never looked back. I worked my ass of for that business and this is what I get. I could say a lot of worse things about my boss and the company but at this stage I’ll keep my mouth shut. Bad luck number 4.
Anyway, this was 2 years ago. I now work in a great job, and have been now for a year and a half. I am currently an Administrative Support Officer, and do blogging and photography in my spare time. The people I work with are amazing and so supportive, and the organisation is great. I look back at this time in my life now and just laugh
Thanks for taking the time to read my first real story time post, if you have any questions feel free to ask. I hope you found this entertaining!
