Book of the Week / 36

This book was quite a long one, so it has taking me a little while to get through hense why there hasn’t been any book reviews for a while. But let me tell you, this one was well worth the wait, I think I now have another book in the top ones I have ever read!
This weeks book is…
Something in the Water by Catherine Steadman

This book, wow. It had me hooked from the beginning to the very end. The first chapter is brilliant, and sets up the story – grabbing you in and makes you want to find out how this bizarre incident occurred, and what lead to this. This book was a great find for me as I picked it up at my local department store – I always go there every now and then to see if they have different stock in or something new is out.
If you could make one simple choice that would change your life forever, would you?
“Erin is a documentary filmmaker on the brink of a professional breakthrough, her husband Mark a handsome investment banker with big plans. Passionately in love, they embark on a dream honeymoon to the tropical island of Bora Bora, where they enjoy the sun, the sand and each other. Then, while scuba diving in the crystal blue sea, they find something in the water…”
Could the life of your dreams be the stuff of nightmares?
“Suddenly the newlyweds must make a dangerous choice: to speak out or to protect their secret. After all, if no one else knows, who would be hurt? Their decision will trigger a devastating chain of events…”
Have you ever wondered how long it takes to dig a grave?
“Wonder no longer. Catherine Steadman’s enthralling voice shines throughout the spellbinding debut novel. With piercing insight and fascinating twists, Something in the Water challenges the reader to confront the hopes we desperately cling to, the ideals we’re tempted to abandon, and the perfect lies we tell ourselves.”
Basically, Erin and Mark had their wedding and went on their honeymoon. They decide to go snorkelling, and they find a suspicious bag which contained a hell of a lot of money, an iPhone, and a gun, at the bottom of the ocean, along with something even more insane. Events slowly unfold since the discovery of this package. Who’s items are they, and where did they come from? Can Erin trust anything that is going on around her? And can she trust the people who she’s closest with? Is someone following her every move…? You’ll find out if you give this book a read.
This book was well written, and every event neatly fits together by the end of the novel. It was a pleasure to read, and one I will be adding to my favourites! I would highly recommend giving this one a go! This book had me on edge, and had my heart skip a few beats at times. You will never believe what happens in it. I am even making my Fiance read it, even though he’s not usually a fan of these sorts of books, he is more of a sci-fi and fantasy kind of guy.
About the Author
“Catherine Steadman is an actress and writer based in North London. She is mainly known for her various roles in Downtown Abbey, Tutankhamen, Breathless, The Inbetweeners, The Tutors and Fresh Meat. Something in the Water is her first novel.”
The genre of this one is fiction, thriller and mystery.
I hope you enjoyed my review – unfortunately I can’t say too much about it without giving away spoilers! I hope this review persuades you to have a read of this one (no, I’m not sponsored, but I wish I was).
