Book of the Week / 41

I’ve just finished my next book, and that means another review is here for you! I have officially ran out of physical books, so now I am onto iBooks again – to be fair, I have SO many on there that are unread so it’s about time I got to them and stop buying physical books for the time being.

This weeks book is…

Sleep by C.L. Taylor

“All Anna wants is to be able to sleep. But crushing insomnia, terrifying night terrors and memories of that terrible night are making it impossible. If only she didn’t feel so guilty…

To escape her past, Anna takes a job at a hotel on the remote Scottish island of Rum, but when seven guests join her, what started as a retreat from the world turns into a deadly nightmare.

Each of the guests have a secret but one of them is lying – about who they are and why they’re on the island. There’s a murderer staying in the Bay View Hotel. And they’ve set their sights on Anna.

Seven strangers. Seven secrets. One deadly lie.

Someone’s going to sleep and never wake up…”

The first pages to this book were fantastic; it really lured you in. Anna was in a horrific car accident while being the driver, and two out of three of her passengers were killed, leaving one severely injured for life. Anna was left with minor injuries and felt unbelievably guilty, even though it wasn’t her fault at all that a huge truck crashed into the side of them. She lived in a house with her boyfriend – but this relationship ended soon after the accident. Anna wanted to start afresh, so she decided to head to the quiet Scottish island of Rum to work as a hotel assistant. What could possibly go wrong?

Storms, flooding, fire and being stranded are just a handful of things that went wrong at this hotel. You will have to read for yourself to find out the rest.

I loved reading this book, it was right up my alley. All the guests and Anna were stuck at this hotel. Relationships were challenged and people’s true colours soon came to light. Once you pick this book up, you won’t want to put it down.

The genre of this one is purely thriller, mystery and crime. It sure does live up to its genre.
