Book Review – Those People

Hi everyone, I have just finished reading another book, so you guessed it, it’s time for another review! I definitely enjoyed this one more than the last. I came across this book at our local store also – I have now run out of physical books to read so now I’m back onto digital books on my iPad.

This book is..

Those People by Louise Candlish

This one looked right up my alley so I had to pick it up!

“Lowland Way is the suburban dream. The houses are beautiful, the neighbors get along, and the kids play together on weekends.

But when Darren and Jodie move into the house on the corner, they donΚΌt follow the rules. They blast music at all hours, begin an unsightly renovation, and run a used-car business from their yard. It doesn’t take long for an all-out war to start brewing.

Then, early one Saturday, a horrific death shocks the street. As police search for witnesses, accusations start flying–and everyone has something to hide.”

One of the new neighbours, Darren (Booth) was so irritating. The book made him, as well as Jodie, so irritating to read about. Which was perfect for the book, as that’s how they are meant to be portrayed. Everything they did annoyed all the neighbours, who all happen to be good friends. It gets to the point where they all just want the new neighbours gone. Then the shocking death happens, but who was it? How did it happen? And who on earth is to blame? This death is certainly an unexpected one.

The book is written by each of the neighbours points of view. It definitely had some cliff-hangers at the ends of some of the chapters – making you want to read to find out more. I definitely thoroughly enjoyed reading this one. It was fairly easy to read which is refreshing, unlike the last book I read.

Annoyingly, I didn’t feel like it ended the best. As a lot of books I read, I am disappointed in the ending and I always feel like they’re rushed. Other than this, I don’t really have a bad thing to say about it!

The genre of this one is mystery, thriller and fiction. These are the genres I love in a book.

About the Author
Before writing fiction, Candlish studied English at University College London and worked as an illustrated book editor and advertising copywriter. She lives in a South London neighbourhood with her husband, daughter, cat and puppy.

I rate this one a 8/10 – would definitely recommend for mystery and thriller lovers like myself!

Thank you for reading!

I’ve seen this is my local bookstore! I remember reading the summary and thinking it sounded good but putting it back because clearly I make bad decisions πŸ€¦πŸ˜‚ It sounds so good! It’s been a while since I’ve read a thriller, I think the last one was “Before I go to sleep” and I really enjoyed that so it should have encouraged me to read more of them, I will make a beeline for this one next time I’m out! Great review πŸ’•

Its definitely one for you if you’re into thrillers! πŸ™‚ I feel like I may have read that one, or one with a very similar title… I feel like some of the names of thrillers are quite similar! Thank you! πŸ˜€ and thank you for reading ❀

Yeah! My sister has a couple of thriller/crime books and a lot of them have similar names like: the bad wife, the good wife, the bad girlfriend. It’s difficult to keep up with what one she’s on πŸ˜‚ no problem! πŸ’•
