Book Review – The Perfect Dress

I thought this was a very suitably themed book for me to read, a book based around weddings and wedding dresses. I got this one on iBooks a little while ago, and finally got around to reading it.

The Perfect Dress by Louisa Leaman

“Fran’s wedding dress shop isn’t like any other. A treasure trove of history, filled with gowns from every decade for every type of bride. But not as you’d expect.

Something bold for the shy and retiring.
Something simple for the woman who is unafraid to stand out.
And something dazzling for the bride who wouldn’t normally dare to be different.

No matter your expectations, you’d never guess your own perfect dress. But Fran knows… she feels the wisdom woven into every gown, a gift from the previous owner waiting to be handed down to the next bride.

When Fran finds a dress that seems to be perfect for her she can’t wait to know its complex history which starts with her getting to know the son of the previous owner…”

I thought this would be a bit of a feel-good, cozy book. It pretty much was! Fran had a special gift of being able to pick the perfect dress for each bride. She has her own wedding dress shop called ‘The Whispering Dress’. She believes the dress picks the bride. Similar to a dog picking its owner. Most of the book was happy, but it definitely had its down parts – it kept you reading in hopes to get to another happy part.

Fran finds the most amazing dress she has ever seen in her whole life, and it was free for her to take as the owner of the dress didn’t care about it. Surprisingly, she makes a suprising bond with this person – but are they right for each other? Does she keep the amazing dress, or sell it to the ‘right’ bride? You’ll find out if you have a read of this book.

If you love weddings and have an interest in them and fashion, this book would be a great pick for you. I’m getting married in October so I thought this would be a great book for me to read. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it, but I thought the end was rushed and ended abruptly. Not the best book I’ve read, but enjoyable.

The genres of this one are romance and womens fiction.
