Back at the end of December 2019, between Christmas and NYE, myself and my bridesmaids booked in to have high tea together – to chat everything wedding, girl talk, and to catch up. I booked through Cudo and found a voucher for high tea for 4, for around $118, so that was about $30 each. Which is a pretty good price for a high tea!
We all met up in the city (Melbourne) as it is a central point for all of us. We had the high tea at a place called Damon Bradley, which is at Southbank, right along the Yarra River. The place was actually a lot smaller than I thought, but it looked cute. They had a display of their cakes and served coffee and tea in fancy pink tea cups with matching saucers.
The service here was really, really good. They kept checking to see if everything was ok, and to ask if we needed any more to drink. Our waitress was kind enough to take a photo of all of us to document the lovely day we had.
About the high tea
So it was a 3-tier plate of high tea – one to serve 2 people. With the high tea came a glass of champagne each and unlimited tea and coffee. The high tea consisted of:
- Assortment of ribbon sandwiches:
- Creamy herbed egg and watercress
- Marinated cucumber
- Roast beef with mustard and horseradish
- Ham, cheddar, tomato chutney and rocket
- Smoked salmon, dill and creme fraiche blinis
- Freshly baked scones served with double cream and house-made mixed berry jam
- Chocolate dipped strawberries
- Petite red velvet
- Berries and cream
- Assortment of French hand-crafted cakes, including a passionfruit dessert of some sort, chocolate-hazelnut-coffee cupcake and chocolate mousse cake
This was all usually worth $65 per head, but with this deal it was only around $30.
To be honest I don’t think I would pay $65. I am very happy with what we paid though, as we were fed more than enough. The only thing about high tea’s is that most of the time they seem to be over-priced!
This was only the second high tea I have gone to – I love high teas, this was a really nice day out. It’s not often I get to hang out with just the girls. It was also lovely weather, the temperature was 29 degrees celcius. It was a nice day to be in the city.
We had some discussion about my Bridal Shower & Hens, and the girls want to organise it all for me. I honestly was expecting to do something, but for once I just have to step back and let others do the organising, as I am usually the organiser! I am looking forward to what they plan.
Thank you for reading my post, sorry it was a short one, but I wanted to tell you about our high tea experience.

Beautiful post that somehow reflected your excitement (also trigerred my urge to attend a wedding, it’s been so long 😂) ❤

That looks delicious. I’m unsure of the exchange rate but I know in the UK you can generally pay between 10 and 15 for a normal one at a normal place. It can go up to about 40 depending on venue.

That’s pretty good! They tend to be expensive here sadly

Aw pity. The one you had looked very nicely done in a lovely venue and I think for the occasion looked perfect. My friend and I like to attend themed ones.
