Hi everyone, welcome to another book review! I’ve been meaning to write this one for about a week now – I’ve been putting it off as I haven’t really had time to write, and I also haven’t been in a writing mood which is annoying! But anyway, let’s get into the review!
Today’s book is…
Where Angels Fear by D.K Hood
“As she opened her eyes and took in her surroundings a feeling of terror ran through her weakened body. She knew exactly where she was. And she knew exactly what was about to happen to her…
When Ella Tate stumbles into Black Rock Falls, her exhausted and bloodied body is a terrifying sight, but not as frightening as the story she has to tell. Ambushed on their way into town when they stopped to help a man by the side of the highway, Ella and her friend Sky ran when he pulled an ax on them. But only one of them got away.
As Detective Jenna Alton investigates the case, she looks into the history of missing persons in the town, and uncovers more cases – all young people. All stopped on the same stretch of highway into town. All vanished without a trace.
When a distinctive pink sweater belonging to Sky turns up in Black Rock Falls, Jenna follows the trail to a derelict building on the outskirts of town. But she isn’t prepared for what lies behind those doors. Can she stop the killer before more lives are lost?”
Wow, this was insane! There are quite a few books in the ‘Detectives Kane and Alton’ series – each can be read in order or stand alone. This is the 5th book in the series, other than this I have only read the 2nd one, you can read that review here. This one was free/cheap on iBooks, I liked the other one I read so I thought I would give this one a go also!
This one has SO many excellent reviews on Goodreads – it’s probably the highest rating I’ve seen! There is also a reason for that. One thing after the other kept happening in this book – murders in the most strangest ways, and shifty people. It was hard to know who to trust, but Jenna knew that she could trust everyone in her team.
Ella, the girl that claimed a killer was after her, and kidnapped/killed her friend – was she telling the truth? You’ll find out if you read this. The book starts out when Ella and Sky were attacked – this was a great way to start as it really grabbed you in, making you want to continue until the very end to find out what happened and what this was all about. It is absolutely messed up what the culprit was doing – I don’t think I’ve read such thing in a book before.
I looked forward to reading this every night. It was easy to read and understand, and the writer keeps you wanting more.
If you are into crime, mystery, suspense or thrillers – you are going to love this.
I rate this one a 9/10!
Thanks for reading my review!
