Hey guys! Thanks for joining me in a new book review! Despite quite a few negative reviews on this book on Goodreads, I really, really enjoyed reading this. Today I’ll be reviewing…
In A Dark, Dark Wood by Ruth Ware

“In a dark, dark wood
Nora hasn’t seen Clare for ten years. Not since Nora walked out of school one day and never went back.
There was a dark, dark house
Until, out of the blue, an invitation to Clare’s hen do arrives. Is this a chance for Nora to finally put her past behind her?
And in the dark, dark house there was a dark, dark room
But something goes wrong. Very wrong.
And in the dark, dark room….
Some things can’t stay secret for ever.”
The blurb doesn’t give away a lot, but it made me very curious. Nora is the main character in the book, and she attends a hens weekend at a glass cottage in a secluded forest. The bride-to-be is Clare, and her other guests staying at the house are; Flo, Tom, Melissa and Nina.
It starts as a normal hens weekend. Drinks, games, food and catching up. Problems arise when their mobile phones can’t get reception, the landline phone line goes dead due to snow, and an unexpected guest turns up. None of them would have ever expected something to go so wrong.
I really loved this book! I got SO into it, and read it in only a few days which is pretty fast for me! I really got into the story, and I was so curious as to why certain things happened in the book. Each chapter was from Nora’s point of view, but went back and forth from what happened at the cabin, to her being in hospital. Each chapter was interesting enough to keep you reading and it kept me very engaged. I also liked the ending.
I would highly recommend this one!
The genres of this one are mystery, thriller, fiction, suspense, crime & adult.
