Book Review – I Invited Her In

I’m back! I took a little break over the Christmas and New Year period because I just needed a break. But I am back! Happy 2021! Let’s hope this year is better than the last.

Today’s book review is..

I Invited Her In by Adele Parks

“I invited her in… and she took everything.’

When Mel hears from a long-lost friend in need of help, she doesn’t hesitate to invite her to stay. Mel and Abi were best friends back in the day, sharing the highs and lows of student life, until Mel’s unplanned pregnancy made her drop out of her studies.

Now, seventeen years later, Mel and Abi’s lives couldn’t be more different. Mel is happily married, having raised her son on her own before meeting her husband, Ben. Now they share gorgeous girls and have a chaotic but happy family home, with three children.

Abi, meanwhile, followed her lover to LA for a glamorous life of parties, celebrity and indulgence. Everything was perfect, until she discovered her partner had been cheating on her. Seventeen years wasted, and nothing to show for it. So what Abi needs now is a true friend to lean on, to share her grief over a glass of wine, and to have some time to heal. And what better place than Mel’s house, with her lovely kids, and supportive husband…

This dark, unsettling tale of the reunion of long-lost friends is thoroughly gripping exploration of wanting what you can’t have, jealousy and revenge from Sunday Times bestseller Adele Parks.”

So I have read one other book by Adele Parks and really enjoyed it – this one was no different! I LOVED it! I got so into this one and got really invested. I could feel how the characters felt. I loved the story, the drama, the surprises, everything. I also loved getting to know the characters and getting to kind of nosy into how they live.

Mel lives with her husband Ben, along with her teen son Liam, and two little girls, Imogen and Lily. She gets a surprise email out of the blue from her old university friend, Abi. She is asking if Mel wants to catch up. Mel ends up going a step further, and asks Abi if she would like to stay with them. Abi accepts, but who knew one person could cause so much grief. Inviting Abi into her home would be one of the biggest mistakes she ever makes. You’ll have to read the book to find out what happens! 😊

I would definitely recommend this one if you like drama, secrets, and a bit of a thrill.

The genres of this one are thriller, fiction, mystery, suspense, adult and chick lit.

I rate this one a 10/10! 😀⭐

Happy reading 📚
