Book Review – The Half Sister

Welcome, and thank you for joining me for another book review!! The book I’ll be writing about today is..

The Half Sister by Sandie Jones

“Kate and Lauren meet for Sunday lunch every week without fail, especially after the loss of their father–but a knock at the door is about to change everything. A young woman by the name of Jess holds a note with the results of a DNA test, claiming to be their half sister. As the fallout starts, it’s clear that they are all hiding secrets, and perhaps this family isn’t as perfect as it appears.”

**TW – Domestic Violence**

I had high hopes for this one, as I absolutely loved ‘The Other Woman’ by Sandie Jonies. You can check out my review for that book here!

This family seems pretty close-knit, but deep down there are secrets. Kate is happily married, but no one knows that they are struggling to conceive. Kate is secretly jealous of her sister, Lauren. She is married with 3 children, and never had any issues with getting pregnant. But Kate has no idea that Lauren is trapped in a violent and controlling relationship. Secrets slowly unravle throughout the book.

To be honest, this one didn’t really wow me, there was no excitement for me, it was just a bit meh. I hate going in with expectations because usually it ends in disappointment 😩 If you’ve read this one, let me know your thoughts, I would be very interested to hear what others think! It’s more of a drama book than mystery/thriller and I think that’s why I didn’t enjoy it as much, as I went in thinking it was very much this genre.

The genres of this one, according to Goodreads, are thriller, mystery, fiction, suspense, adult and family.

I rate this one a 5/10 📚

Thank you for reading my review, even though it wasn’t a fully positive one.
