Book Review – The Last Wife

Hey readers! Chelsea back again with another book review for you 😊 The book I’ll be reviewing today is..

The Last Wife by Karen Hamilton

“Nina and Marie were best friends—until Nina was diagnosed with a terminal illness. Before she died, Nina asked Marie to fulfill her final wishes.

But her mistake was in thinking Marie was someone she could trust.

What Nina didn’t know was that Marie always wanted her beautiful life, and that Marie has an agenda of her own. She’ll do anything to get what she wants.

Marie thinks she can keep her promise to her friend’s family on her own terms. But what she doesn’t know is that Nina was hiding explosive secrets of her own…”

I’m still not really sure what to think about this one.. it wasn’t really suspenseful, exciting, thrilling, nor really that interesting. I forced myself to finish the book so I could move on to my next one. The main character, Marie, wow. What an awful, selfish, fake friend. This one was more like a bit of a family drama than anything. Probably wouldn’t recommend but who knows, you might like this one more than me! Nothing in the book was really relatable for me either so I really just didn’t connect with it or get into it that much. Sorry for another negative review, but I like to be honest. I don’t have too much else to say about this one sadly. I have just started a new book and I am already liking it much more than this 🤣

Now that I’m actually writing my review, and having a look through other peoples reviews on Goodreads, I am disliking this one more and more. It shouldn’t really be put under the thriller/mystery/suspense genre.

The genres for this one are thriller, mystery, fiction, suspense and drama.

I rate this one a 4/10 🌸

Thank you for reading, sorry it wasn’t a positive one!
